Operations
Support Team (OST)

The Allegheny County OST functioned as an integral part of the emergency preparedness for the Major League Baseball All-Star Game and Fan Fest activities that occurred July 7-11, 2006. This nationwide event drew thousands of visitors to Pittsburgh over the 5 days of activities and events. OST personnel were an integral component in the planning phases as well as the deployment of equipment and personnel throughout the various staging areas, including forward command and event communications.

PREFACE
The
EMS Operations Support Team was established to plan and mitigate EMS responses
that exceed the capabilities of local services. The team functions in a support
role for local responders and county Emergency Management personnel. The EMS Operations Support Team is comprised of the following: Local Paramedics and EMTs Mass Care specialists

MISSION
OBJECTIVES
1.
Provide Command Support on major incidents at the behest of local
services.
2. Provide operational support when
requested by local responders.
3. Maintain a list of available regional
resources.
4. Provide medical
coverage for County Haz-Mat Teams.
5. Provide Rehab for local agencies during major
incidents.
6. Foster positive networking and sharing
of information between local agencies.
7. Develop & present a training program
for use in local EMT and Paramedic courses
8. Assist with Planning for large scale
event postings.
9. Assist with Staffing, on request, for
large scale event postings. |
| ACCOMPLISHMENTS Completed the modification of the donated unit, equipping it with communications and medical equipment.
With the assistance of
local services placed in service the Main OST unit and purchased
3 equipment trailers and other equipment for use by local EMS agencies Established Medical Command for team operations Established a team capable of responding consisting of representatives from 26 local EMS services Placed in-service donated equipment |
