The Baldwin
EMS K-9 Search and Rescue Unit are comprised of Handler Todd
Plunkett and Search and Rescue Dog (SRD) Band-Aid. Band-Aid is
a 2 ½ year old female Labrador retriever. Lt. Plunkett and SRD
Band-Aid are trained to find missing and lost persons. These
missing people range from lost hunters, missing children, and
missing elderly persons. The K-9 Unit is trained in large area
search, tracking, obedience, building search, article search,
and search and rescue area search. The K-9 SAR Unit has been
trained by Master Trainer Pat Moloney. The team is currently
certified by the North American Police Work Dog Association (NAPWDA)
and the Pennsylvania Police Work Dog Association (PAPWDA). The
team has also acquired the AKC Good Citizenship certification.
The K-9
Unit is available to respond 24 hours a day and can be requested
through the Allegheny County 911 center.
Lt.
Plunkett and SRD Band-Aid are also available for public relation
and public education programs on request by calling the Baldwin
EMS Station.
